Abstract

Second branchial cleft cysts are almost located in the neck; thus, their presence in the nasopharynx is extremely rare. A 72-year-old woman was referred to our department for a mass found in the left lateral nasopharyngeal wall incidentally on a neck magnetic resonance imaging. The location and pathological feature of the cyst indi?cated that this was of branchial origin. When a cystic lesion presents in the lateral nasopharynx, branchial cleft cyst should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Here, we report a case of nasopharyngeal branchial cleft cyst with a literature review.
